Our leadership team is composed of retired military women veterans, accomplished educators, and seasoned professionals who share one mission: empowering displaced women veterans. With over 125 years of military service and more than 130 years of combined professional and medical expertise, our team holds advanced degrees, including MDs, PhDs, Doctorates in Business Administration, and MBAs, with roles as professors, directors, deans, auditors, and federal leaders and healthcare providers to include a chiropractor and certified acupuncturist.

Guided by integrity and compassion, we are dedicated to creating safe, supportive, and sustainable pathways where displaced women veterans can heal, rebuild, and thrive.

Together, our leadership team blends military strength, academic excellence, financial stewardship, and heartfelt compassion—all working toward one mission: empowering displaced women veterans to find stability, healing, and hope.

    Dr. Shirley E. Johnson

    CEO / FOUNDER/ PRESIDENT

    Retired Army Sergeant Major with more than 24 years active-duty service. She obtained her PhD in Organization and Management with a Specialization in Leadership from Capella University. She has over 23 years of academic expertise and has taught a variety of business courses at the graduate level. Dr. Johnson joined the federal government workforce with Veterans Affairs in Feb 2016 and retired in 2021. She has extensive knowledge of leadership and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

    Dr. Beth A. Vivaldi

    Vice President Housing Division

    Retired Air Force Major with 22 years active-duty service.  She has over 25 years of academic expertise and worked for several colleges during her career as professor, Director, and Dean.  Her PhD is in Instructional Design for Online Learning.  Dr. Vivaldi expertise lies in law enforcement and security aspects at the managerial level.  She is a 100% disabled veteran.

    Pauline W. Cunningham

    Vice President Services Division

    Retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major with over 30 years of service, all in the Finance Corps.  She has a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Administration. She has a heart to serve others.  Being from a very large family with 12 siblings, she was raised to always share, love others and to help improve the situation, environment, and surroundings in any way she could, while also showing love.  Her motto: “Make a positive difference where you can.

    Secretary

    Seasoned finance, compliance, process optimization and risk management professional with over 25 years of experience spanning the corporate, legal, finance and healthcare sectors.  She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Information Management and E-Commerce from Jacksonville State University.  Guided by integrity and a passion for service, Candace is dedicated to creating sustainable, positive change in the lives of veterans—a mission especially close to her heart as the proud mother of a U.S. military veteran.

    Dr. Joanne C. Lofton

    Treasurer

    Retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major with over 27 years of distinguished service.  She has led across the military, government, and private sectors and holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Trident University International (2024).  Her expertise includes Change Management, Employee Engagement, and Organizational Leadership.  Dr. Lofton is highly skilled in financial analysis, strategic planning, and process improvement.  She is deeply committed to creating sustainable, supportive spaces where veterans can heal, grow, and thrive.

    Internal Auditor

    Retired Federal Government employee with more than 20 years of experience in financial auditing.  Her broad knowledge is in Internal Auditing, with a strong ability to make complex information easy to understand.  Susie’s career experience demonstrates adaptability, as she has successfully navigated both individual and team-oriented work environments, showcasing her versatile skill set.  Susie is the proud mother of four children, with their ages ranging from 36 to 53 years old.  She proudly served this country as an active-duty member of the US Army.

  • Kamarie N. Cunnigham

    Kamarie N. Cunnigham

    ICT

    Faithful Army active-duty retired dependent who upholds the core values of military service.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a minor in Accounting from Purdue University.  Kamarie brings over ten years of experience in Vendor Relations, specializing in building and maintaining strong, long-term partnerships.  She is also skilled in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with expertise in data management, business software, and digital communications.  Her ICT background enhances vendor management, streamlines processes, and supports effective decision-making.

    Dr. Karen L. Brockway

    Advisory Board Member

    Dr. Brockway graduated from the renowned Life University College of Chiropractic in March 2002.  She opened Gadsden Family Chiropractic in April of 2003.  Dr. Brockway obtained her acupuncture certification in December 2011.  Since then, she has helped a lot of people to get out of pain or reduce their chronic pain and improve their health with a special interest in veterans health and wellbeing.

    Dories Jennings

    Advisory Board Member

    Dories has over 20 years of dedicated service in the medical field and has built a career grounded in helping others and making a positive difference in their lives.  Her versatility has allowed her to work in many areas of the healthcare field and her experience spans across the private sector and doctors' offices, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of different operational environments.  Dories’ twelve years dedicated to missionary work in Africa forged a calling: to uplift and improve the lives of others, a journey that has been immensely fulfilling.  She is a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

    Chelsa M. Jennings

    Advisory Board Member

    Chelsa has 30 years of dedicated service in the field of education and has built a career grounded in a deep commitment to educational excellence.  She earned an Ed.S from East Carolina State University and she is an alumna of North Carolina Central University holding both a BA in Elementary Education & a MA in Curriculum amongst other notable educational accolades.  Chelsa’s leadership includes roles from Teacher to CAO, & currently, Chief Human Resources Officer.  She is licensed in North Carolina for Elementary Education (K-6), School Administration (Superintendent, Principal), and Curriculum Instructional Specialist.

    Associate Member

    Diarra is a seasoned Human Resources professional with a passion for shaping people strategies and transforming workplace cultures. She has served 22 cumulative years, both as an active-duty member and a federal employee, where she held various leadership roles. Diarra holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University. She is deeply committed to purpose-driven work and takes pride in contributing to initiatives that make a difference in the lives of veterans. Diarra is honored to be part of the SRTKA mission to end displacement of female veterans, one veteran at a time.

  • Ernestine F. Faircloth

    Ernestine F. Faircloth

    Associate Member

    Retired SFC, U. S. Army with 20 plus years of service as an Executive Assistant and Administrative Supervisor. Twelve years of service in the National Alliance Treaty Organization (NATO), and eight in various locations throughout the United States. After retirement, she served as an Executive Assistant in the U.S. Government, working for FEMA, Recruiting Command, EPA, US Census Bureau, and the State of Georgia. Attended the University of Maryland, St. Leo, Atlanta Christian College and Capella University majoring in Psychology. Two term president and founder of the International Association of Military Women of Color (I AM WOC).

    Retired U.S. Army 1SG with 26 years active-duty service; served 20 years in the Dental Field and 6 years as a Recruiter/Guidance Counselor. She has a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and received her certification as a Dental Assistant. After retirement, Jeanette worked as the Office Manager of two Dental Practices for 10 years and performed Assistant/Hygienist work. She is a very kind, compassionate, and giving person. Jeanette is a member and Past Matron of the Order of The Eastern Stars, Jurisdiction of Virginia, Prince Hall Affiliation. She is also a lifetime member of VFW Post 8773, Junction City, Kansas.
